Shower leaks can have a disasterous impact on a home. Let me explain. Years ago now I was living on Carbrook Rd, Cornubia- in one of those low set 'shoe-boxes.' My (at the time) very heavily pregnant wife Sharyn and I were relaxing, watching TV in the lounge room, one evening.

In the subsequent repairs that we did I discovered that the termites were in fact drawn into the house by the moisture leaking out of the shower, causing dampness around the waste pipe going down through the concrete slab and into the ground underneath the house.
This shower leak had been like an 'enormous dinner gong' ringing for the termites... and they found their way through under the house slab and came up in a hairline crack between the shower waste pipe and the concrete slab.
